Last Thursday we discovered the best selection of Amovino in our weekly tasting. It is a cool place, very new and fresh, runed by a team of three great someliers. They select amazing wines and are always looking for new trends. We tasted some gems that I want to showcase:
- Onra: White grenache, Chenin Blanc and Sav Blanc. Surprising cupage that respects the personality of each grape. Chenin brings some aromathics difficult to find in Spanish wines but very well known for the French market. This vintage showed a medium raped chenin, bringing some fresh apple refreshing this white grenache, and sauvignon expressing tropical fruit.
-La Fou: Elegant and complex monovarietal white grenache, very light tannin structure and a mix of minerality and some flowers. Reveals that Terra Alta can compete with its big brother, Priorat
- Aroa: Inspired on the winemaker's daugther. Nice blend of red granache and marselan, a bit spicy, balsamic notes of red fruit but giving its own personality, strong but compensed.
- Les Terrasses: One of the big ones, Alvaro Palacios blend, granache and carinyena. Evolves well on glass, shows minerality of the terroir and give hints of a short aging, whereas it rested for a well-deserved 12 months period. Fruit and oak tell you the rest.
We definitely reccomend Amovino's tasting room. Their strenghts are their wine selection, the food selection is accurate and the staff are very friendly. They have also a very appropiate tasting room for tastings. Price is +5€ for the uncorcking service, not expensive at all counting that the location is really central.
